The Kansas Cuff Project launch has three steps:

  1. Education of every pregnant and postpartum patient in Kansas on POSTBIRTH warning signs
  2. Launching a pilot project in eight high-risk counties in Kansas that provides free BP cuffs to outpatient OB officers for rapid distribution. Based on provider identification fo patient need, SMBP surveillance and feedback to the perinatal provider will be used to improve both identification and treatment of hypertensive disease in pregnancy and postpartum.
  3. Launching resources statewide for provider and patient education regarding hypertensive disease in pregnancy and postpartum. This includes making it easier for providers to order SMBP monitoring. This new model would utilize current patient-payor benefits to rapidly put BP cuffs in the hands of patients when providers identify the need.
